On Thursday night alot of industry players and concert goers attended the first day of the Music In Africa Conference which kickstarted with a concert at the Alliance Française Accra.

Two of Ghana`s music legends, Ebo Taylor and Bibie Brew were awarded the Music In Africa Honorary Award, they joined previous awardees Eric Wainaina (Kenya, 2018) and Baaba Maal (Senegal, 2017).

On the night, Ebo Taylor showcased his authentic highlife music to the  audience. Yaa Yaa (Ghana), Kyekyeku & Ghanalogue Highlife (Ghana), Songhoy Blues (UK/Mali), and Arka’n (Togo) all performed to bring a close memorable opening night at ACCES 2019.

The conference continues with informative discussions centered around music streaming, playlist pitching , AI and how smart algorithms are helping in giving independent artists the exposure they need to forge sustainable careers .

Discussing the dynamics of the streaming era at ACCES 2019 will be MusicTime and Simfy Africa CEO Oye Akideinde (Nigeria), Boomplay Music Ghana manager Elizabeth Ntiamoah, Believe Distribution Services label manager for world music Michèle Beltan (France), Apprise Music founder and CEO Michael Bamfo and Impact Hub Accra founding partner and COO Kelechi Ofoegbu.
