Ghanaian Afro Dancehall artist J Derobie is back again with a really hard one.
The empawa signee who last year took the music scene by storm after releasing back to back hits including his chart topping one Poverty, has once again shown why he deserves to be spoken in the same breath as Stonebwoy.
Back It, which is the first single off his debut album A King is Born., sees him spit some really hard and aggresive patois, without a careful listening, you could be lost in the rythm.
Accompanied by a video which was shot by Bad Direction, the video has two parts, with one where the scene opens with poverty hitmaker holding his championship belt, walking majestically in the ring whilst the crowds cheer, he is also seen punching bags left right center, prancing in a boxing gym whilst continously spitting bars.
Another part potrays him as a military dictator / leader, addressing a group of people.
“The idea was to create a song to show resiliency, to show courage, to show that you are not weak, and you can handle challenges that come your way,” J.Derobie tells OkayAfrica. “To prove that yeah, you are a man.”
In the aftermath of all these exercises, he eventually defeats his peers and is crowned a champion.
